MS in Earth System Sciences and Environmental Engineering

Equisha_Glenn_Internship_NESDIS_2013Research: Equisha’s current and on-going research involves the study of climate trends in the Caribbean and surrounding regions. Her interests in water resources and climate studies led her to the Lake Enriquillo project in the Dominican Republic.

Internshipa Research Associate, NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service, Baltimore, MD

The intern worked on SST analysis of the Caribbean and surrounding regions using NOAA’S Optimum Interpolated SST product (OISST), also referred to as the Reynold’s SST product. By the conclusion of the internship, the intern learned to retrieve and process the Reyonld’s data (in netCDF format) through data processing techniques and tools in MATLAB.

Bio: Equisha was born and raised in New York City, and is a recent second degree graduate. She obtains a BE in Earth and Atmospheric Science and Environmental Engineering from CCNY and a BS in Biology from CUNY York College. Her interests lie on water resources and climate change in the Caribbean region. She hopes to learn more about the impact of climate on sensitive ecosystems and how that affects natural resources, including water. In the future she hopes to work on similar projects as an environmental engineer.
