I am working on Sea Surface Temperature (SST) analysis of the Caribbean and surrounding region. I am using one of NOAA’s newer SST data products referred to as the Optimum Interpolated Sea Surface Temperature Product (OISST – commonly referred to as Reynolds). I am being mentored and receiving guidance for my summer research from Tom Smith and Daniel Comarazamy, NOAA scientists involved with various projects such as SST and atmospheric studies/modeling. The NOAA scientists at this location work on various weather related parameters, so I have the opportunity to ask experts for more detail about certain climate variables I have been studying in the Caribbean. Having this direct connection to them has provided me with valuable input and suggestions that have helped me to enhance my knowledge and research regarding climate.
